Description

First edition of this superb Chine-collé lithograph on India paper of the viaduct  at Algeciras, started in 1777 and completed in 1783.

The port city in the south of Andalusia, the largest city on the Bay of Gibraltar by Louis de Sainson artist aboard the famous Dumon’t D’Urville voyage of scientific discovery and exploration.

The rare first issue is identified by the name J. Tastu, Editeur at lower left and the embossed stamp at lower sheet edge, ‘Voyage de L’Astrolabe J.Dumont D’Urville Commandant. J.T.’
