Description

Unusual map of Australia showing an outdated pre colonisation of the continent.

The towns of Perth (1829), Adelaide (1836) and Melbourne (1835) are not shown although the map was issued in the 1872 edition of Blackie & Sons, Imperial Atlas of Modern Geography, identified by the Plate number in Roman Numerals at top right, CIII. In the earlier editions the atlas contained sixty six maps whereas the later editions the numbering was over one hundred maps. Additionally in the earlier editions of the plate number appears at the lower right corner.

From Blackie & Sons, Imperial Atlas of Modern Geography.
