Description
French edition of Henry Roberts c.18th engraved map of the world.
Roberts’s important world map on Mercator’s projection includes the tracks of Captain Cook’s three voyages of exploration. Cook made an enormous contribution to the overall knowledge of world cartography. He discovered and charted; the east coast of Australia, New Zealand, the Hawaiian Islands, explored southern waters and disproved the existence of a navigable Northwest Passage. Roberts’s chart was the most up-to-date world map for its time.
