Description
First edition of this superb lithograph of inhabitants of Santa Cruz the capital of Tenerife and Algeciras the port city in the south of Andalusia, by Louis de Sainson artist aboard the famous Dumon’t D’Urville voyage of scientific discovery and exploration. Tenerife is the largest of the Canary Islands.
The rare first issue is identified by the name J. Tastu, Editeur at lower left and the embossed stamp at lower sheet edge, ‘Voyage de L’Astrolabe J.Dumont D’Urville Commandant. J.T.’
