Distribution: The squatter pigeon is endemic to Australia and is now, restricted to Queensland. The squatter pigeon was formerly widespread to the Liverpool Plains and Dubbo in New South Wales (Schodde and Mason 1997), occurring as far south as 34oS (Blakers et al. 1984). There has been no record in New South Wales since the 1970s (NPWS 2003), though there was an unconfirmed sighting in 1989 (Morris 1993).
