Detailed world map on Mercator’s projection with Australia named ‘Notasie ou Nouvelle Hollande’. Interestingly, the western part of the southern coast is named, ‘Te de Flinders’ while the eastern coast is name, ‘T.de Baudin’referring to the Baudin expedition. Pierre Lapie (1779-1850) was first Geographer to the King of France, Chief of the Topographic section of the War Office, military cartographer and publisher, was active in all these fields in Paris from the 1820’s.
