Description
Sir William Newzam Prior Nicholson (1872-1949) was a painter/illustrator. Nicholson studied at Julian’s, Paris and from 1894 collaborated with his brother-in-law James Pryde on a series of posters and illustrated books. The artists became known as “The Beggarstaff Brothers” and were greatly influenced by Toulouse Lautrec. “An Almanac of Twelve Sports” is Nicholson’s famous sporting calender. Words in the almanac were written by Rudyard Kipling.
