Description
“An officer of the 57th Prussian Regiment was shot in the head at Metz in October, and was sent home to Hanover, where he died of his wound. His young wife took his death very much to heart, and on Christmas Eve, instead of having a Christmas tree lighted at home as usual, had it conveyed to the Cemetery, and placed on her husband’s tomb, where she lighted it up.”
