Description
Rare c.18th map with coastal profile of Adventure Bay (Bruny Island), Van Diemen’s Land (Tasmania) by Henry Roberts lieutenant and mapmaker on Cook’s third and final voyage. Cook remained at Adventure Bay from 24-30 January 1777. On approaching land, John Webber drew the coastal profile for Cook, as became his usual practice, carefully noting topographical points and indicating the direction of the ship to the coast and its distance.
