Description

Very rare early map of the mouth of the River Murray by William Bloomfield Douglas (1822-1906) dated 28th January, 1860. The map covers from the sea mouth of the Murray River, South Australia, with part of Hindmarsh Island, Sir Richards peninsula, part of Mundoo Island, East bank and Younghusband Peninsula.

The map was made only six years after the first successful navigation of the mouth the Murray by Francis Cadell in his paddle-steamer the Lady Augusta  in 1853.
