Description

Scarce c.19th engraving of St. Hubert’s Vineyard which was established in 1862 in the Yarra Valley.

It is one of the oldest and most historic wineries in Victoria, Australia. Founded by winemaker Hubert de Castella, the vineyard was instrumental in pioneering the region’s wine industry during the late 19th century. Known for producing high-quality table wines, St. Hubert’s gained international recognition, helping to cement the Yarra Valley’s reputation as a premier wine-growing area. Though the vineyard ceased operations for a time in the early 20th century due to challenges like phylloxera and economic downturns, it was revitalized in the 1960s and remains a key player in Australia’s wine industry today.
