Description
Beautiful engraving of moths, with superb original hand colouring from, Dru Drury (1725 – 1803) Illustrations of Exotic Entomology
Dru Drury devoted his time entirely to entomology after retiring from blacksmithing in 1789. His devotion to the study of entomology is evident in his service as the president of the Society of Entomologists of London from 1780 – 1782. In 1837, he published a three volume study titled Illustrations of Exotic Entomology which was a very detailed and comprehensive study of exotic insects. Drury himself was a prolific collector of specimens with over 11, 000 specimens in his collection.
