Rare engraving of the champion Australian sculler William Hickey who defeated Dick Green.
Green had returned to Sydney to find a new champion in the person of W. Hickey, and after rowing several races against him, it was clearly demonstrated that Hickey was the stronger sculler of the two. On June 20, 1866, he lost the championship finally to Hickey, the race being on the Parramatta River, stakes were £400.
